Riding Beyond Labels in the Health Information Frontier: Introducing the Health Information Continuum [122]
This session introduces the Health Information (HI) Continuum as a unifying framework that reflects the full range of roles, settings, and career pathways within the profession. Challenging outdated “traditional” and “nontraditional” labels, the presentation offers a more inclusive and forward-looking perspective that emphasizes the interconnected nature of HI work across care delivery, payers, vendors, public health, education, and emerging technology environments. Attendees will gain a clearer understanding of how health data flows across the continuum and how HI professionals contribute at every stage, from creation and governance to analysis and meaningful use. Through practical examples, the session highlights how competencies transfer across roles, reinforcing a more cohesive professional identity. Participants will leave with actionable strategies to adopt continuum-based language, strengthen workforce development efforts, and confidently position themselves for future opportunities.
